BAND BIO

It’s like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup:  sweet on the outside with a salty center. – Timmy Frustration.

Like an echo of the early Who through the lens of the 80s Mod Revival. – some guy who doesn’t know as much about music as people think he does.

Here they are, The New Frustrations, coming at you from America’s Home Town, Plymouth Massachusetts, with a passion for catchy songs, tight harmonies and ringing guitars.  Five incurable music geeks who’ve known each other their entire lives and still enjoy being together.  Not kids, by any means, but still full of a youthful drive to make great music.  And that’s exactly what they’ve done, with production from Ray “Rayboy” Fernandes (drummer for Boston greats The Atlantics) and his Triple B studios.  You get Major Frustration’s pounding drums, Tommy’s throbbing bass and Timmy’s snarling rhythm guitars all underpinning the Undertones-worthy hooks delivered by the tag-team lead vocals of Mikey and Dickey (who doubles on stinging yet melodic lead guitar).  With Mikey you get classic rock’n’roll vocal chops, part Alice Cooper part David Johanson.  With Dickey you get more of a Buzzcocks via Green Day punk/pop thing, but remember: this guy’s been at it since before Billy-Jo what’s-his-name stopped wearing diapers.  This particular little slab’o’wax contains two Dickey Frustration originals, one Mikey Frustration original, and one Atlantics cover (the New-Wavy classic “One Last Night” sung by Mikey, who shows no signs of being intimidated by the presence of Rayboy behind the mixing board).

Mikey, Timmy and Major Frustration were all founding members of The Johnnies, one of the great unsung punk bands of the 90s.  Tommy also spent some time with The Johnnies, along with a number of other Boston bands.  And Dickey brings with him the experiences of having played in various Seattle area bands before returning home to Plymouth.
